The advanced and innovate IRM-vessel M/S “Seven Viking” by Eidesvik Seven AS – Eidesvik Offshore ASA and Subsea 7 S.A. (50/50) – was given Skipsrevyen’s prestigious SHIP OF THE YEAR 2013 award.
The award was presented by Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry Mr. Trond Giske at Nor-Shipping on the 4th June. Mr.Kolbein Rege representing the owners and Ms Gunvor Ulstein and Mr Sigurd Viseth representing the Ulstein Group.
The newbuild is a prototype IMR-vessel deigned by Ulstein Design & Solutions in close collaborations with Eidesvik and Subsea 7. The hull was delivered from JSC Zaliv Shipyard in Ukraine.
The SX148-design is based in the ship’s working deck area. This area consists of an exterior cargo deck, a hangar with a moon pool and module handling tower, an interior cargo space and a ROV area. All this is tied together by an extensive rail system that could carry modules and tools between the different areas.
The award-winning vessel’s scope of operation will be to install subsea structures, maintain and repair the subsea control systems, repair and replacement of riser systems and flow lines, tie-in of pipelines and umbilicals, scale treatment of subsea wells and ROV inspections. Designed with an X-Bow hull line, MS “Seven Viking” will now serve Statoil, confronting extreme conditions in the North Sea, for a period of five years.
In sum all her technical achievements made her the obvious winner of Skipsrevyen’s SHIP OF THE YEAR 2013 award.
